Two months after McLaren driver Lando Norris wrested second in the Formula 1 constructor's championship from Ferrari with a win in Abu Dhabi, a Ferrari seems to have gotten its revenge on him. An F40 that reportedly belongs to Norris crashed earlier this month, all while Norris was reportedly out of town.

A TikTok user who goes by ThanosofMonaco shared a video of the crash earlier this month, which was then mirrored on other social media platforms. It shows the F40 — which wears the Monaco number plate 8650 visible on an F40 that Norris has been seen driving — accelerating out of a sweeping corner. As the wheels start to spin, the car veers left toward oncoming traffic. Then, as the driver tries to countersteer, the car snaps out into a spin toward the right-side guardrail. Traffic in both directions stops, and the driver moves over to the opposite shoulder to park with what appears to be relatively minor damage.

Norris was reportedly in Dubai when the accident happened, suggesting that he was not the driver. Unfortunately for the British F1 star, he is presumably still the one who will have to figure out how to get his F40 fixed.

The crash seemingly marks at least the third time that someone besides the owner of an F40 has crashed an example of car in less than a year. One high-profile incident happened earlier this month, when a reported service technician flipped a car after hitting a guardrail in the rain. A dealership employee was reportedly behind the wheel when another F40 crashed in a tunnel back in April of 2024.

If there's a lesson to take away here, it is that you should be mindful of who you let drive your precious F40. These are among the best driver's cars on Earth — and they can only keep being driven if people keep them out of the guardrail.
