West Coast Storm System Causes Flash Floods Across Northern California

A powerful storm moved through northern California on October 24, causing flooding from coastal areas to the border with Nevada.

The precipitation is a welcome respite from California’s state-wide drought, which has been particularly acute in parts of the north. But authorities warned that the intense rainfall could cause mudslides in areas burnt by forest fires in recent years.

This video, taken south of Doyle, close to the border with Nevada, shows flash flooding in the area. As of Sunday afternoon, Doyle had received roughly 2.5 inches of rain in the preceding 12 hours, according the US government figures. Credit: Wiliam Cuddy via Storyful
