Tesla and Ford issue recalls, Adidas investigates Ye's behavior, Microsoft under scrutiny in EU

Yahoo Finance's Brian Sozzi discusses leading business headlines including Tesla and Ford issuing vehicle recalls, Adidas investigating Ye over harrassment allegations, and Microsoft Teams coming under scrutiny in the EU for antitrust concerns.

Video Transcript

BRIAN SOZZI: Let's get down to business, a look at the biggest stories in business and beyond. Recall trouble for automakers. Tesla is recalling nearly 81,000 cars in China over a software issue and seatbelt problems. The recall affects both imported and China-made models and will require a physical fix to address the seatbelt issue. The recall in China comes after the automaker racked up 19 recalls in the US market this year, although Tesla says the two most recent recalls in the US were fixed with over-the-air updates.

Meanwhile, Ford is recalling almost 519,000 vehicles over engine problems that could create a fire risk. The issue affects Ford Bronco and Escape models over a potential cracked fuel injector. Adidas is launching an investigation into its work with Ye, the rapper and entrepreneur formerly known as Kanye West, regarding his behavior while partnering with the German athletic wearmaker.

This after mounting allegations from current and former Adidas employees, as reported by the Wall Street Journal and Rolling Stone. Adidas didn't return Yahoo Finance's request for comment. The employees say Ye showed and watched pornography during meetings and made provocative sexualized comments often directed at women. Adidas ended its partnership with Ye in October following anti-Semitic remarks made by the rapper.

And Microsoft could face an EU antitrust investigation over its office communications app Teams. This after calls from its rival Salesforce that the Teams software should be sold separately and at a fair price. Salesforce, of course, owns communications app, Slack. Earlier this month, the European Commission opened an investigation into Microsoft's deal to acquire game developer Activision Blizzard in a $69 billion deal. Jared.
