Tesla addresses recall issues tied to its full self-driving updates

Yahoo Finance's Pras Subramanian discusses Tesla's updates to its full self-driving (FSD) software.

SEANA SMITH: Tesla shares holding onto gains after the company rolled out a significant update to its full self-driving software today, one that addresses a recall that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued last month. Pras Subramanian, our senior autos reporter, here on set. What can you tell us about this update that I believe is in beta, right?

PRAS SUBRAMANIAN: Yeah, that's right. It's a big update here, a number of things that they've been sort of waiting on for a few months. They're going to merge some of the new FSD beta stuff with the autopilot highway on highway kind of autonomous features there. So in theory, that should make it better. They also have issues. They're updating stuff with, like-- with the close cut ins with cars and also things like lane blockages. But the big thing you mentioned is the actual potentially addressing some issues NTSA had for the recall FSD beta.

So a number of things are improvements are proceeding through a stop sign or stops at intersections, yellow light improvements there, improvements at speed adjustments and going to a speed zone, also some scenarios where there's like-- where they're-- the car actually going into in a turn-only lane, going straight through it. They've addressed that. So these are the four big issues here that they've addressed that NTSA had an issue with. So, presumably, this will update those concerns and kind of address concerns. And we haven't heard back from NTSA yet, but presumably, this is in concurrence what they had said that they wanted Tesla to do.
