Skies Turn Red as Dixie Fire Spreads Towards Susanville in California's Lassen County

Skies turned red near Susanville, California, as smoke from the Dixie Fire was blown by strong winds across Lassen County on August 5.

Authorities in Lassen County issued new mandatory evacuation orders as the Dixie Fire intensified and grew to over 322,000 acres.

Katrina Brackett took this video from a couple of miles outside Susanville.

“It’s absolutely horrible to watch the fire spread as much as it is and to see people in the area lose their homes, businesses, basically everything. A lot of people moved to Greenville, Westwood, and Chester after the Paradise fire and they now have to start over again,” Brackett told Storyful.
