Krispy Kreme boasts Q1 earnings beat

Shares of Krispy Kreme tick up higher after the donut chain reported an earnings beat alongside year-over-year e-commerce growth.

RACHELLE AKUFFO: All right, taking a look now at shares of Krispy Kreme. Trading after posting strong first quarter results today. We see the stock in the green about 1% so far. Revenue coming in at $419 million. That's $17 million higher than estimates. There's also growth of 12.5% since last year. Adjusted earnings per share beat by $0.03. The donut maker's e-commerce revenue grew 23% on an annual basis.

And big wins on organic revenue growth, up 14% in the US and up 7% in the international segment. Krispy Kreme CEO Michael Tattersfield stressing the growth of donut sales across retail giants like Walmart and Target on that earnings call. I know I've done my part to eat quite a few of those.
