Issues driving swing state voters to the polls

It's nothing new that all eyes are on swing states as the country approaches presidential elections every four years; and the more contentious it is, the more voters hone in on their most important issues. BTIG's Director of Policy Research Isaac Boltansky joined Rachelle Akuffo and Ben Werschkul on this episode of Capitol Gains to talk about presidential positioning in theses key swing states: "If you want to answer who's going to win this election, my response is, what are voters going to care about when they go to the polls in a few weeks."

Capitol Gains is Yahoo Finance’s unique look at how US government policy will impact your bottom line long after the Presidential election polls have closed.

When you look at the issues that animate voters.

Um in swing states, it tends to be the economy, immigration, health care, abortion, democracy and seniors issues.

Trump in those states is plus eight points on average or the biggest two of those which are the economy and immigration.

Harris is roughly plus 11 for all the other ones.

And so to me, it's really a question if, if you want to answer who's going to win this election, my response is, well, what are voters gonna care about when they go to the polls in the next few weeks?

And you know, Pennsylvania early voting starts um uh in uh mid-september or so?

And so is it gonna be about the economy and immigration?

If so, Trump is well positioned?

Is it gonna be about those other issues I mentioned if so, Harris is well positioned?
