House approves changes to small business pandemic aid program

There could be some changes coming to the Paycheck Protection Program, the program set up to help small businesses with emergency loans during the pandemic. On Thursday, the House voted to make the loan more flexible. Currently, small businesses have eight weeks to use the money to qualify for loan forgiveness. The new bill extends that to 24 weeks. It would also let them defer payroll taxes and use more of the money to pay their employees. The bill now heads to the Senate and is expected to be voted upon next week.
