Hurricane Idalia Barrels Through Florida's Big Bend Region

Hurricane Idalia hit Florida’s Big Bend on Wednesday morning, August 30, packing winds over 90 mph and bringing “catastrophic" conditions to northern Florida and southern Georgia, according to the National Hurricane Center (NHC).

Areas along Florida’s west coast reported storm surge flooding and wind-driven rain as the storm lashed the state.

The NHC said Idalia would move across southeastern Georgia later Wednesday.
