- An Apple Store in a Baltimore suburb, it's Towson for you fellow Marylanders out there. It's the first to unionize, adding momentum to a nationwide shift to worker organization efforts. The Union was announced by the National Labor Relations Board following a 65 to 33 vote that came after a drive from Apple to fend off such efforts by raising wages and running its own worker outreach program, according to the New York Times. The recent unionization push has seen unions form at companies like Starbucks and tech giants like Amazon, both of which were previously able to fend off such efforts.
Apple employees are also pushing for unionization at New York's Grand Central store and a store in Louisville, Kentucky. Sweets maker Mondelez is set to buy Clif Bar in a $2.9 billion deal as Mondelez aims for longer-term growth. The move adds the energy bars Clif Luna and Clif kid brands to Mondelez's portfolio, which includes things like Oreos, Cadbury, Mars bars. Cliff said it will continue manufacturing its products in Idaho and Indiana.
And the buzz around "Lightyear" wasn't enough for the newest Disney Pixar film to unseat box office mainstay "Jurassic World Dominion." The family film raked in $51 million in its opening weekend, but that compares to "Jurassic" 58.7 million during its second weekend. By the way, "Lightyear" remember was banned from several countries over a same-sex kiss scene.
