JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Jaguars fired general manager Dave Caldwell on Sunday after the team’s 10th consecutive loss and sending a clear message that the small-market franchise is headed in a new direction. It was a move many thought owner Shad Khan should have made at the end of last season. But Khan gave Caldwell another chance to make Jacksonville a playoff contender for just the second time in his eight-year tenure.Caldwell came up well short of the owner’s winning expectations, making Khan’s decision an easy and somewhat expected one.Khan will keep coach Doug Marrone and his staff in place to finish out the season and likely let the next general manager decide his fate. It would be stunning to see Marrone return in 2021.“I’ve met with Dave Caldwell to express my appreciation for his service to the Jacksonville Jaguars as our general manager," Khan said in a statement that followed the team's 27-25 loss to Cleveland. "Dave was exceptionally committed and determined to bring a winner to Jacksonville, but unfortunately his efforts were not rewarded with the results our fans deserve and our organization expects."Our football operation needs new leadership, and we will have it with a new general manager in 2021.”The Jaguars are 39-87 since Khan gave Caldwell his first GM job in 2013, falling a few plays shy of the franchise’s first Super Bowl in 2018 and miring mostly in mediocrity since. The Jaguars (1-10) have dropped 16 of their last 19 games, including 11 by double digits.___More AP NFL: https://apnews.com/NFL and https://twitter.com/AP_NFLMark Long, The Associated Press

The Latest on Week 12 in the NFL (all times EST):6 p.m.The Denver Broncos have finally completed a pass, but they have a big hole to climb out of against New Orleans. All four of Denver's quarterbacks are out, which forced the Broncos to promote rookie receiver Kendall Hinton — a former college QB — from the practice squad for Sunday's game. Denver had just one first down and no completions in the first half against the Saints.Hinton eventually completed a short screen pass to Noah Fant in the third quarter, but shortly after that, he threw his second interception of the game.New Orleans leads 17-3.Denver is in this predicament after starter Drew Lock, backup Brett Rypien and practice squad veteran Blake Bortles were deemed high-risk close contacts with No. 3 quarterback Jeff Driskel, who tested positive for COVID-19.___5:40 p.m.San Francisco nickel back Jamar Taylor has left the field on a cart at SoFi Stadium late in the first half of a defence-dominated game between NFC West rivals. The 49ers lead the Rams 7-3 after a first half featuring five combined turnovers. Jared Goff fumbled near midfield shortly before halftime, but Robbie Gould missed a 50-yard field goal attempt to complete a fairly inept offensive half of football.Taylor appeared to have a left leg injury while his teammates knelt around him on the field. He was in obvious pain as he got on the cart and accepted condolences from players, including Rams receivers Cooper Kupp and Robert Woods.___5:15 p.m.Kansas City is off to a blazing start against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, with Tyreek Hill catching seven passes for 203 yards and two touchdowns in the first quarter to help the reigning Super Bowl champions open a 17-0 lead.Hill had a 34-yard reception on the first play of the game and a 23-yarder later in the same drive to set up a short field goal. He scored on receptions of 75 and 44 yards from Patrick Mahomes, finishing his second TD with a backflip into the end zone.___4:50 p.m.The Rams and the 49ers have combined for four turnovers in the first quarter at SoFi Stadium, which ended with San Francisco leading Los Angeles 7-3.Jared Goff and Nick Mullens each threw an interception, while Malcolm Brown and Jeff Wilson both lost fumbles. Richard Sherman made the pick for the Niners. This is his first game since the season opener due to a calf injury.Raheem Mostert scored the quarter’s only touchdown in his return from a four-game absence with a sprained ankle.___4:16 p.m.The Minnesota Vikings have taken a dramatic late lead over Carolina with 46 seconds remaining.Kirk Cousins threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Chad Beebe. The extra point was blocked, but an offside penalty gave the Vikings another chance, and the kick gave Minnesota a 28-27 advantage. The Vikings trailed 24-13 in the fourth quarter but have rallied behind two touchdown passes by Cousins.___4 p.m.The Cleveland Browns are trying to hold on late against Jacksonville.James Robinson brought the Jaguars within two with a 4-yard touchdown run, but Cleveland stopped the 2-point conversion attempt and still leads 27-25.The Browns have made this hard on themselves. They were stopped on fourth down while up eight at the Jacksonville 22. Then the Jaguars got a fourth-down conversion of their own thanks to a Cleveland penalty.___3:40 p.m.Kenyan Drake's 1-yard touchdown run with 8:02 remaining has pulled Arizona even with New England at 17.The Cardinals blew an early 10-0 lead in that game, but Arizona went on a 16-play, 80-yard drive to tie it in the fourth quarter.Drake has two touchdown runs.___3:40 p.m.In two games against Miami this season, the New York Jets have yet to reach the end zone. The Dolphins lead 13-3 in the fourth quarter — neither team has scored since halftime. Miami won their first meeting 24-0 last month. The Dolphins are trying to keep pace with AFC East-leading Buffalo, which leads the Los Angeles Chargers 24-17 in the fourth.___3:20 p.m.Los Angeles Chargers defensive end Joey Bosa has a career-best three sacks after hauling down Buffalo’s Josh Allen from behind for a 7-yard loss late in the third quarter. It was Bosa’s second sack of the game against Allen. He also sacked backup Matt Barkley, who came in for one play after Allen limped off in the second quarter.Bosa has upped his career total to 47 1/2 — and moved into fifth on the franchise list, a half-sack ahead of Junior Seau.Buffalo leads 24-14.— John Wawrow reporting from Orchard Park, New York.___3:10 p.m.New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones is out of the game against the Bengals with a hamstring injury.Jones went down after completing a third-quarter pass to Wayne Gallman Jr. and was relieved by backup Colt McCoy. Jones returned for two plays on the Giants’ next drive but again was replaced by McCoy. He is questionable to return. The Giants lead the Bengals 13-10 late in the third.___3:05 p.m.Carolina Panthers rookie Jeremy Chinn had not one but two fumble recovery returns for touchdowns in the first 69 seconds of the third quarter at Minnesota.Chinn picked up the ball after Zach Kerr’s sack of Kirk Cousins and took it back 17 yards for the score. Then on the very next play from scrimmage, Vikings running back Dalvin Cook lost the ball at the end of a short carry, a forced fumble credited to Chinn. The second-round draft pick from Southern Illinois emerged from the pile and broke away for a 28-yard touchdown.Cook was hurt during the play and needed assistance to leave the field with an apparent injury to his right leg.According to Pro Football Reference research, Chinn became the first player in the NFL since 1948 to return two fumble recoveries for touchdowns in the same game.— Dave Campbell reporting from Minneapolis___3 p.m.Josh Allen's 3-yard touchdown run put Buffalo ahead 24-6 in the third quarter against the Los Angeles Chargers.Earlier in that game, Cole Beasley became Buffalo’s second receiver in two games to complete a touchdown pass. Taking Allen’s pitch to the right, Beasley faked a run then pulled up and lobbed an easy 20-yard touchdown pass to wide-open rookie Gabriel Davis to put the Bills up 14-6.Two weeks ago, receiver Isaiah McKenzie completed a 12-yard touchdown pass to Allen in a 32-30 loss at Arizona.___2:40 p.m.Indianapolis Colts linebacker Matthew Adams was ejected late in the first half after throwing a punch while playing on the punt coverage unit. That left an already short-handed and frustrated defence with one fewer player against Tennessee.Derrick Henry torched the league’s second-ranked defence in the first half, running 17 times for 140 yards and three scores as the Titans built a 35-14 lead.___2:25 p.m.Baker Mayfield has two touchdown passes — and should have had a third — in the first half against Jacksonville.Mayfield connected with Jarvis Landy and Austin Hooper, ending a three-game drought without a passing score. The Browns lead 17-13 at halftime.Mayfield is 10-of-15 passing for 146 yards, taking advantage of decent weather for the first time in a month. Mayfield threw for 122, 132 and 204 yards the last few weeks while dealing with wind and rain in each game. The Browns are enjoying perfect, late-November weather Sunday.Mayfield, though, should have had another TD against Jacksonville, but inexplicably missed wide-open receiver Rashard Higgins in the end zone on a first-and-goal play from the 5. Cleveland settled for a short field goal.___1:55 p.m.Although Philip Rivers overcame a sore big toe on his right foot to make his 235th consecutive start, he doesn't have his usual offensive line.Centre Ryan Kelly is out with a neck injury, marking the second straight week and third time this season that the Colts didn’t have their five regulars. Then left tackle Anthony Castonzo left the game with a knee injury in the first half and was listed as questionable. Le’Raven Clark replaced Castonzo early in the second quarter. With the top spot in the AFC South on the line, Indianapolis and Tennessee are tied at 14 in the second quarter. Rivers has thrown for 113 yards and a touchdown.___1:45 p.m.Las Vegas Raiders cornerback Damon Arnette is questionable to return against the Atlanta Falcons after a possible concussion on the first play of the game.Arnette was injured in a collision with teammate Cory Littleton while tackling Falcons running back Brian Hill. Arnette was taken to the trainer’s tent before returning to the sideline and eventually being escorted to the locker room.Atlanta has kicked a couple field goals to take a 6-0 lead.___1:25 p.m.The Cincinnati Bengals and New York Giants quickly traded touchdowns in the first quarter. After New York’s Wayne Gallman Jr. plunged in for a 1-yard TD on fourth-and-goal on the opening drive, Brandon Wilson fielded the kickoff in the end zone, found a seam up the middle and outraced the Giants for a 103-yard scoring return. That tied the score at 7. It was Wilson’s second career kickoff return for a touchdown and the longest play in Bengals history. The Giants (3-7) can move into first place in the woeful NFC East with a victory, although Philadelphia (3-6-1) plays Monday night.___More AP NFL: https://apnews.com/NFL and https://twitter.com/AP_NFLThe Associated Press
The weekend of the year’s best shopping event is finally here, and these are the best deals to shop now
Shops could stay open 24 hours a day in the run-up to Christmas in a Government bid to boost England’s ailing high street. Under the new plans, councils will be able to waive rules restricting retailers’ opening hours to help shop owners recoup sales lost during the coronavirus lockdown. Announcing the move on Sunday, Communities Secretary Robert Jenrick said he wanted to ensure a “more pleasant and safe shopping experience” for all.
(Bloomberg) -- French billionaire Xavier Niel and two other partners are seeking to raise up to 300 million euros ($360 million) via a vehicle to be listed on the Paris stock exchange to pursue consumer deals with a sustainability angle.Niel, the billionaire behind telecom carrier Iliad SA, Matthieu Pigasse, the investment banker who’s running the Centerview Partners Paris office, and supermarket chain owner Moez-Alexandre Zouari are joining forces for a blank-check firm known as a special purpose acquisition company.2MX Organic -- as the vehicle is called -- is being created to acquire European “targets with main operations in the production and distribution of socially and environmentally responsible consumer goods,” a statement on Sunday said, confirming a Bloomberg News report published on Wednesday. The newly-created company is seeking an initial target worth as much as 2 billion euros, a person familiar with 2MX Organic’s plans said.Niel and Pigasse had already teamed up in 2016 to create a similar vehicle for media acquisitions which led to the creation of Mediawan SA led by Pierre-Antoine Capton. This time, the duo is hoping to close deals in a sector they’re less associated with amid a boom in demand for organic foods in Western Europe. That market grew 14% last year in France alone, according to HSBC.“Consumers are looking for quality, sustainability and traceability. Many now pay particular attention to the means of production and sourcing of the goods they consume,” the statement said.Qualified Investors2MX Organic will sell at least 25 million shares, or units, at 10 euros each, and only qualified investors in and outside France will be able to subscribe, it added. Zouari will become CEO while Pigasse and Niel will be board members.Deutsche Bank AG is acting as global coordinator and joint bookrunner and Societe Generale SA is joint bookrunner.Niel is widely known for his telecom, media, technology and real estate investments. He recently won a corporate governance battle along with Leon Bressler to prevent a 3.5 billion-euro capital increase at mall owner Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield. Investors voted down the plan this month and Niel’s investor group won three seats on the company’s supervisory board.Pigasse also owns media assets in France such as Les Inrockuptibles magazine, Radio Nova and music festival Rock en Seine. Both men also own stakes in the group behind the daily Le Monde. In France, Zouari is known for his investment in frozen-food retailer Picard. Recently, Zouari was hoping to snap up the organic supermarket chain Bio C’Bon which was in receivership but he was trumped by a Carrefour SA bid.Magnates across industries have increasingly turned to SPACs as a way to quickly raise capital for dealmaking. This year, a record $64 billion has been raised in the U.S. for such vehicles, compared with just $786 million across three deals in Western Europe.(Adds bookrunners in eighth paragraph)For more articles like this, please visit us at bloomberg.comSubscribe now to stay ahead with the most trusted business news source.©2020 Bloomberg L.P.

ATLANTA — Deion Jones returned an interception 67 yards for a touchdown, Matt Ryan threw a pair of short scoring passes, and the Atlanta Falcons thoroughly dominated Derek Carr and the bumbling Las Vegas Raiders 43-6 on Sunday. The Raiders (6-5) lost their second in a row and looked very much like a pretender in the AFC playoff race, producing a listless, mistake-filled performance against an Atlanta team that's playing out the season under an interim coach.Carr had a miserable day, fumbling the ball away three times in addition to delivering the pick that the Falcons linebacker returned for his fifth career TD.Nathan Peterman finished out at quarterback for the Raiders, who took their worst loss of Jon Gruden's most recent three seasons as coach.Las Vegas had a season-worst five turnovers in all and was flagged 11 times for 141 yards, with one penalty wiping out an interception and another allowing the Falcons (4-7) to keep the ball after a missed field goal.Atlanta wound up scoring a touchdown after Dallin Leavitt rolled into Younghoe Koo's legs, taking him out for a roughing-the-kicker personal foul.Gambling on fourth-and-3 at the Raiders 4, Ryan double-pumped to buy just enough time to find Calvin Ridley alone in the back of the end zone for the game's first touchdown with 2:17 left in a tedious first half that took nearly two hours to complete.Ryan, who was 22 of 39 for 185 yards, added another 4-yard touchdown pass late in the third quarter, this one to Brandon Powell.Ito Smith tacked on an 8-yard TD run after another Carr turnover, this one when Steven Means shoved left tackle Kolton Miller into his own quarterback, causing the ball to slip out of Carr's hand just before his arm went forward for a throw.Atlanta led 16-3 at halftime, and Jones sealed the game early in the third quarter.Carr was swarmed by the pass rush and threw behind running back Devontae Booker on a short pass over the middle. The ball went right to Jones, who streaked all the way to the end zone with no one even close.Carr saw the play unfolding while on his knees, slapping the turf in disgust when Jones made the pick.Carr's first two fumbles were both recovered by Atlanta's Jacob Tuioti-Mariners. The backup defensive end showed exceptional athleticism on the second one, knocking it away from Carr and then scrambling to fall on the loose ball. The Raiders cost themselves an interception when Nevin Lawson's facemask penalty negated a pick by Nick Kwiatkoski. For good measure, Atlanta was able to close the first half with the third of Koo's five field goals, a 30-yarder helped along by Maliek Collins slamming into Ryan for another 15-yard roughing penalty.Koo connected from 38, 39, 30, 29 and 54 yards, stretching his field-goal streak to 21 straight. The Raiders were held to a pair of field goals from Daniel Carlson. Las Vegas managed 243 yards and 13 first downs.INJURY REPORTRaiders: CB Damon Arnette was evaluated for a concussion after a helmet-to-helmet hit with one of his teammates on the first play of the game. ... CB Trayvon Mullen left with an abdominal injury in the first half but was able to return.Falcons: Already playing without star Julio Jones because of a hamstring injury, Atlanta's receiving corps took another blow when Olamide Zaccheaus went down in the first half with a toe injury. ... OG James Carpenter was carted off the field with a groin injury in the fourth quarter.UP NEXTRaiders: Play their second straight game on the East Coast when they face the winless New York Jets next Sunday.Falcons: Take on first-place New Orleans for the second time in three weeks, hosting their NFC South rival next Sunday. R.J. Nembhard scored 14 points and TCU held on for a 56-52 victory over Liberty in the championship game of the Hall of Fame Classic on Sunday. The Horned Frogs (3-0) had a nine-point lead with two minutes left but the Flames got a 3-pointer from Darius McGhee then two baskets off turnovers generated by their press to close within four with 30 seconds remaining. A missed free throw gave Liberty the ball back with 17.2 seconds remaining but Chris Parker had his pass deflected with 2.1 remaining and the ensuing inbounds pass went off McGhee's fingers.
The Santa Clara County COVID-19 restrictions that are forcing the San Francisco 49ers out of Levi's Stadium for the short term, could be be sending the team out of state. NFL Network reported Sunday that the Arizona Cardinals have offered the use of State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Ariz., and the venue appears the most likely destination for the 49ers, who have three home games remaining on their regular-season schedule. Since the start of the season, Arizona has looked like a potential destination for the 49ers should they be forced out of town because San Francisco and the Cardinals weren't scheduled to play at home on the same day.

The Charlotte Hornets have acquired forward Gordon Hayward and unprotected 2023 and 2024 second-round draft picks from the Boston Celtics in exchange for a heavily protected 2022 second-round draft pick as part of a sign-and-trade transaction. The Celtics will only get Charlotte's draft pick if the Hornets finish in the top five in the league next season, so it's unlikely they will get anything in the deal other than unloading Hayward's contract. Hayward previously agreed to a four-year, $120 million deal to join the Hornets.
