In addition, the company installs domestic, industrial, and commercial gas meters and electricity meters; builds and operates grid-scale batteries; and manages distributed energy resources, as well as provides energy consultancy services. Further, it engages in the provision of data management, gas utility connections, funding, gas and electric third-party asset management, electricity utility connections and management, engineer training and development, software development, and renewable asset management, as well as administrative services. The company was formerly known as UK Smart Metering Group Limited and changed its name to Smart Metering Systems plc in June 2011.
