Tech stocks outperformed in the stock market today and bond yields fell despite stronger than expected jobs growth in June.
The Russell 2000 is now less composed of tech stocks and more of the various sectors that are more sensitive to changes in economic demand.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average slipped 0.1%, and the Nasdaq composite rose 0.9% to push its own record higher. The Nasdaq composite rose 159.54 points, or 0.9%, to 18,188.30. The Russell 2000 index of smaller companies rose 2.75 points, or 0.1%, to 2,036.62.
