CORAL SPRING, Fla., April 25, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Dear Mr. Meniane and PRTS Board, Despite your requests for “private” dialogue we cannot remain silent. Our public communication is justified due to your lack of action and lip service only posture. We will be voting our shares against David Meniane for the following reasons: Since both founder Mehran Nia and myself have left the board, our stock has lost over $500 million dollars of value. U.S. traffic deaths fell 0.2% in the first nine months of 2022, reversing a sharp rise in the two prior pandemic years when speeding and other unsafe behavior increased, regulators said on Monday. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) estimated that 31,785 people died in traffic crashes through Sept. 30 compared with the 31,850 deaths in the same period in 2021. U.S. traffic deaths jumped 10.5% in 2021 to 42,915, the largest number killed on American roads in a year since 2005 after rising 7% in 2020.
Shares are down 63% over the last year as the buzz around e-commerce stocks has faded, and while the company's growth rate has slowed from the pandemic, it's still delivering solid growth, outperforming its e-commerce peers, and gaining market share from traditional auto parts retailers. Not only did CarParts.com post a surprising increase in revenue growth, but it's also taking positive steps on the bottom line. On the earnings call, management said that optimizing for gross profit dollars was its primary objective, and gross profit rose 19% to $56.2 million.
Four straight beats coupled with modest growth and margin expansion should keep this stock running.
