"“Top Gun: Maverick” is no longer just the box office phenomenon of the year, as the unstoppable Tom Cruise blockbuster seems to be harking back to better times when movies wouldn’t make all their money opening weekend, and then just slowly fade away. The $25.5 million “Top Gun” made in its sixth weekend is only the THIRD movie to ever make that amount. James Cameron’s 1997 epic “Titanic” made $25.2 million in its sixth weekend, although Cameron’s follow-up, 2009’s “Avatar,” made $34.9 million its sixth weekend and then remained #1 for a seventh weekend."

Source Goldderby. Also LOL our board poster who won't shut up about how movies have no legs - they got that wrong, and I bet all their other predictions will be wrong, too!

Impossible to underatand that with teathers closed, the share reached 16$ and with Teathers full and Box office record's every week we are at less than 11$, I understand the crisis time but not equal for all compagnies and Pay for 10 to 20$ for amusement is very accessible.

June domestic box office 985 million US dollars. This is slightly trailing June 2019 when June box office was just slightly over 1 billion. To be noted that June 2019 saw more movies released then 2022. On average through each movie in June 2022 performed better than in 2019. This is excellent news that a full recovery is coming. Cineplex's profit per patron is higher than in 2019, I will be expecting strong number in the coming quarterlies.

Minions doubled its projected weekend haul of 65 million to 129 million. Largest opening for an animated movie since frozen 2. With multiple movies smashing past estimates you gotta wonder if quarterly earning will as well.

Minions Rise of Gru set box office records over the opening weekend. Personally, not my type of movie but I saw it with my kids anyway.

Cineplex is a long-term hold to grow this is not about timing the market... if we believe we buy and hold if we don't believe we sell and walk away it's that simple IMHO glta especially the long bull's....

Cineclub is actually a great deal - I was just looking at the ad and it says the "free" monthly movie you get each month does not have to be used in the month you get it. . And I'm sure the real goal is getting people to the movies more often and spending at the concessions, restaurant/bar and games.

Can't tell if the new fee is good news or bad news. Seems like Cineplex is treading on thin ice when it comes to increasing tickets price in a recession

Looking at Jurassic pre-sold seats in St. John's, NL for tonight.

7 show times, in IMAX 3D, IMAX, 3D and Regular

out of 1,328 seats 64 are sold.

Doesn't seem like much of a blockbuster to me lol

Maverick flies past 1 billion, and still showing strong attendees at theaters. I guess there is no such things as blockbusters anymore ?
