The 342 new COVID-19 cases reported in B.C. today is the highest one-day count since May 27, nearly 10 weeks ago. The seven-day rolling average has risen to 218, up from 196 yesterday and 115 a week ago. The rise in cases may be attributed in part to the Delta variant, which accounted for 61 per cent of all variant cases between July 18 and 24 as of Friday’s report. The previous week that number was 39 per cent, and a month ago just 13 per cent. Six of today’s cases are epidemiologically linked.
