Top 10 cities for quality of life, work and innovation

PricewaterhouseCoopers has released its seventh annual rankings of the best cities for work, innovation and quality of life in the world.

The report ranks 30 global metropolises based on three main categories: tools for a changing world, quality of life and economics.

The first indicator takes a city’s several factors into account including intellectual capital and innovation, technology readiness and “city gateway,” or its effectiveness in a globally integrated and knowledge-based world.

For quality of life, cities were assessed based on transportation and infrastructure, health, safety and security, sustainability and their natural environment, as well as demographics and liveability.

And lastly, PwC looked at economic clout, ease of conducting business and cost.

The rankings featured several of the world’s biggest cities such as London and New York, but there were also some surprises.
