2016 appears to be the year of the video game movie.
Adaptions of the PlayStation series “Ratchet and Clank” and mobile favourite “Angry Birds” have already been released, Blizzard classic “Warcraft” gets its North American release on June 10 and “Assassin’s Creed” is set to open in theatres in December.
Despite many efforts to bring video games to the big screen over the years, the category has lacked a true blockbuster and after the release of “The Angry Birds Movie” in May, it is already the third top-grossing video game adaption of all time.
