The team had a nation on the edge of its seat during a heartbreaking semifinal loss to the Americans, and the officiating controversy captivated Canadians for days afterwards.

When Canada pulled off a bronze-medal victory over France, it was as if the team had won gold, and the win made household names of players like Diana Matheson and Christine Sinclair (who also won our Buzziest Canadian award).
