BOSTON (AP) _ X4 Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (XFOR) on Thursday reported a loss of $18.4 million in its fourth quarter.

The Boston-based company said it had a loss of 91 cents per share.

The results did not meet Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 87 cents per share.

For the year, the company reported that its loss widened to $62.1 million, or $3.09 per share. Revenue was reported as $3 million.

X4 Pharmaceuticals shares have risen 51% since the beginning of the year. The stock has declined nearly 8% in the last 12 months.
