This Week’s Most Popular Home Is a Treehouse?!

Most popular listings May 27th
Most popular listings May 27th

The climb isn’t easy, but a distinctive home in Kansas managed to rattle all the branches on its ascent to the top of the most popular homes on realtor.com®.

The listing agent for this unique home told us, “You feel like you’re in a treehouse when you’re inside.” While it’s not exactly a treehouse, the striking home was designed by a local architecture professor to be nestled amid the local flora. With a rooftop deck and backyard surrounded by woods, the four-level home is marketed as a “modern-day tree house.”

Suffice it to say, the marketing plan worked. The home not only shimmied its way to the top of our list, it also went under contract in less than a week.

Climbing out of the tree, you also clicked on a baseball player’s over-the-top desert palace, a super-secure mansion in Mississippi, and a historic farmhouse perfect for horsing around in Connecticut.

Saddle up and take a look at this week’s 10 most-clicked homes.

10. 8619 Courtland Dr, Strongsville, OH

Price: $995,000

Why it’s here: A whopping $255,000 reduction this week brought the list price for this six-bedroom home under a million. It also propelled the home into our top 10. Custom-built in 2005, the 9,220-square-foot property sits on 2 acres that come with a private stream. And at just over $100 per square foot, this is a mansion made for a savvy home shopper.

6. 325 Lakeshire Pkwy, Canton, MS

Price: $2,600,000

Why it’s here: Listing agent Tye Densford told us this seven-bedroom mansion in Central Mississippi is double-gated—meaning, it’s a gated home within a gated community. It sounds secure enough to us. Densford added that the minimum lot size in this exclusive subdivision is 5 acres, making this 23.5-acre parcel right in line for the area.

5. 271 N Grand St, Suffield, CT

Price: $599,700

Why it’s here: Agent Kathy Murphy said interest likely stems from the recent reduction (nearly $30,000) in the list price for this historic farm. The 5.7-acre property has “a lot of fun stuff to talk about,” she said, including facilities for horses and original features dating to the 19th century. Murphy also credited the home’s great photos: “Aerial photography is a must when you have so much to show.”

1. 3213 Saddlehorn Dr, Lawrence, KS

Price: $252,500

Why it’s here: Designed to fit into the nature surrounding it, this house climbed to the top of our list. “It’s obviously not a real treehouse, but it feels that way,” according to listing agent Sarah Page. The back of this four-level home is surrounded by trees and the views from the rooftop deck are rife with trees, so you “feel like your sitting up among the trees,” Page said.

She said she received an overwhelming response to the home on social media, and the home was under contract just five days after being listed. Page said the home is a true standout: Designed by a University of Kansas architecture professor in the late ’70s, the home’s unique design appeals to buyers looking for a modern home.
