The Mental Health Department in Beaufort is looking for two psychiatrists — one for adults and one for children — at a salary between $200,000 and $230,000 a year.

Known as the Department of Mental Health-MHC Coastal Empire, the state agency has had the jobs posted since January.

They are the top paying open jobs in state government this week.

Both psychiatrists would serve the five counties in its district — Allendale, Beaufort, Colleton, Hampton, and Jasper counties.

The jobs call for someone who is licensed or eligible for licensure to practice medicine in South Carolina, completion of full four-year residency in psychiatry, and for the child psychiatrist, completion of two-year fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry.

Two years of service brings eligibility for student loan repayment of up to $50,000.

The adult psychiatrist serves in state mental health clinics and in community facilities as assigned by the psychiatric service chief and on call with at least three other psychiatrists.

The doctor also consults with Probate Court and community agencies.

The state is also looking for a chief accounting officer in the Comptroller General’s Office at a salary range of $175,000 to $215,000. The job is based in Richland County.

The last date to apply is June 30.

The job requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or Finance with at least 10 years experience, five of which as senior management in accounting and licensed as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA)

The role oversees all statewide accounting functions of more than 100 agencies and institutions of higher education. The state is looking for a Virtual Chief Information Security Officer within the Department of Administration at a salary between $99,030 and $183,219 a year, based in Richland County.

The state is looking for someone with experience in IT risk management to serve as a liaison between the Division of Information Security and the SC Department of Juvenile Justice.

A bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field and at least eight years of experience in information security is required. The job requires a Secret or higher security clearance from appropriate federal authorities.

The Upstate Region of the Department of Health and Environmental Control, which on July 1 becomes the Department of Public Health, needs a Regional Medical Director at a salary between $154,000 and $168,913 a year.

Based in Greenville County, the job requires an MD or DO from an accredited medical school, plus completion of an internship or one year of residency training and a Master of Public Health, Master of Health Informatics, Master of Health Management or Policy.

A physician is needed for the Public Health Department Pee Dee Region with the opportunity to work remotely and with flexible hours. The salary is $165,500 annually.

As with the medical director job in Greenville, this job requires a medical degree.

The Department of Mental Health-Bryan Psychiatric and William S. Hall Hospital is looking for a psychologist in Forensic Services at a salary between $81,388 and $150,585 a year.

The job is located at the Department of Mental Health – Inpatient Services, 220 Faison Drive, in Columbia and entails overseeing treatment programming for acute and extended care forensic services.

A doctorate in applied psychology from an accredited college or university and experience in the practice of applied psychology is required.
