(Reuters) - Volkswagen said on Wednesday group deliveries decreased 3.8% in the second quarter of the year compared to the same period a year ago, but that it still expects a slight pick-up for the full year.

Worldwide, the total number of vehicles delivered was 2.24 million in the second quarter.

While deliveries to China fell 19.3% between April and June, deliveries of battery-electric vehicles to the country rose by 21% to 49,600, according to the German carmaker.

By comparison, North America deliveries were up 10.8% for that same period at 268,100 vehicles, with the number of battery-electric vehicles delivered to the United States down 14.5%.
