Whether you love or loathe the idea, a hybrid Porsche 911 is here. And guess what? It's still fantastic.
The 2025 Porsche 911 Carrera GTS is the first 911 hybrid on the market.
A turbocharged 3.6-liter flat-six produces 478 horsepower on its own, and there's an electric motor sandwiched in the eight-speed dual-clutch transmission making another 53 horsepower.
Because hybrid math can be silly, net output is rated at 532 horsepower, which is 59 more than the outgoing GTS.
The last 911 GTS we tested reached 60 mph in 2.8 seconds, and we'd wager this one is even quicker, if only by a tenth of a second or two.
There are a few firsts in the 911 GTS cabin as well.
The analog tachometer has finally made way for a fully digital display. Thankfully, you can keep the revs front and center.
The upper dashboard doesn't contain the shift nubbin, like it does on the new Cayenne. That sucker stays on the center tunnel, where it belongs.
Save for a few aesthetic upgrades here and there, the 992.2 doesn't really alter the visual formula.
While there's no chance of getting a manual transmission on the new GTS, keep your fingers crossed for subsequent 911 variants.
