US imposes sanctions on official procuring arms for Sudan's RSF
The United States on Tuesday imposed sanctions on the younger brother of the head of Sudan's Rapid Support Forces, accusing him of leading the paramilitary group's procurement of weapons and extending the country's civil war. Fighting that broke out between the RSF and Sudan's army in April 2023 has displaced millions and led to the spread of famine and disease among Sudan's people. Algoney Hamdan Daglo Musa, hit with the latest U.S. Treasury Department sanctions on Sudanese actors, is the younger brother of RSF commander Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, known as Hemedti.

Airlines cancel flights, airports close as Florida braces for Hurricane Milton
U.S. airlines are canceling flights and adjusting schedules as some Florida airports close in anticipation of disruptions from Hurricane Milton, which is set to make landfall in the state on Wednesday. Southwest, one of the largest U.S. airlines, said it is adjusting its schedule at several airports that were pausing operations, including Tampa International Airport and Orlando International Airport. Orlando International, one of the busiest airports in the U.S., said it would cease operations at 8 a.m. local time on Wednesday, according to a notice on its website, while Tampa International said it was closed on Tuesday.

Arbitration rules in favour of BP as sole buyer of Kosmos Energy's Senegal LNG project
Kosmos Energy said on Tuesday a Paris-based arbitrator has ruled in favour of BP, prohibiting Kosmos from selling to third parties liquefied natural gas from the Greater Tortue (GTA) project offshore Senegal and Mauritania. Last year, Kosmos Energy, a U.S.-listed oil and gas exploration company, and BP Gas Marketing, a BP subsidiary, sought arbitration from the International Chamber of Commerce over planned LNG sales from Phase 1 of the GTA project. The chamber informed Kosmos Energy Ltd that a final, binding award prohibits it from selling LNG cargos to third parties during the contract term of the LNG sales agreement, which has an option to end in 2033, Kosmos said in a statement.
