US, Mexico resolve labor rights denial petition at Impro Industries

WASHINGTON (Reuters) -The U.S. and Mexico have resolved a Rapid Response Mechanism petition under the U.S.-Mexico-Canada trade agreement alleging workers' rights were denied at Chinese-owned manufacturer Impro Precision Industries, the U.S. said on Tuesday.

The U.S. Labor Department and U.S. Trade Representative said Mexico facilitated a resolution with Impro Industries Mexico to remediate workers' claims at its San Luis Potosi facility by posting neutrality statements, creating company guidelines on freedom of association and collective bargaining and providing training to workers.

"We are pleased that the Government of Mexico has completed its review of Impro Mexico and found no denial of rights at our facility in Villa de Reyes, San Luis Potosi and that USTR has ended its investigation," Impro Industries Mexico said in a statement.

"We cooperated fully with the Rapid Response Labor Mechanism (RRLM) proceedings brought by the United States under the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement," the statement said.
