TSX falls 2.12 percent
NEW YORK (Reuters) - The Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX fell 336.65 points, or 2.12 percent, to 15,517.40.
Leading the index were Aphria Inc , up 15.2 percent, Pretium Resources Inc , up 6.6 percent, and Parkland Fuel Corp , higher by 5 percent.
Lagging shares were Snc-Lavalin Group Inc , down 13.5 percent, Ivanhoe Mines Ltd, down 9.8 percent, and Canada Goose Holdings Inc, lower by 8.4 percent.
On the TSX 40 issues rose and 203 fell as a 0.2-to-1 ratio favored decliners. There were 2 new highs and 51 new lows, with total volume of 335.4 million shares.
The most heavily traded shares by volume were Aurora Cannabis Inc , Aphria Inc and Bombardier Inc.
The TSX's energy group fell 7.18 points, or 3.74 percent, while the financials sector slipped 4.69 points, or -1.55 percent.
West Texas Intermediate crude futures fell 2.81 percent, or $2.11, to $72.85 a barrel. Brent crude fell 2.69 percent, or $2.29, to $82.71 [O/R]
The TSX is off 4.3 percent for the year.
