Trina Solar (TSL) Supplies 6.9MW of PV Modules to Anesco - Analyst Blog

Trina Solar Limited TSL delivered 6.9 megawatts (“MW”) of Trinasmart photovoltaic (“PV”) modules to UK-based Anesco Ltd., an energy efficiency solutions company. Anesco will utilize the modules at a ground-mounted solar farm in South Wales, the largest optimized solar farm in Europe.

Trinasmart offers a module-integrated monitoring and power optimization solution, which optimizes energy output of PV systems, and improves solar array safety and installation speeds. It is covered by the company’s 10-year product warranty and 25-year linear performance warranty.

Trinasmart has power optimization capacity to boost system performance by up to 20% and examining and controlling of the PV array at the module level. It can be monitored and operated in real time with a smart mobile or PC. In addition, the modules can be completely deactivated with a single click during electrical breakdowns or fire disasters to reduce high voltages, and ensure the safety of firefighters.

These features allow Trina Solar to receive more orders for Trinasmart from several international customers. The company recently announced that U.S. residential solar provider, Vivint Solar, Inc. VSLR will install Trinasmart modules in North America.

Trina Solar has a significant presence in Europe, particularly in the UK. Its fourth-quarter 2014 revenues and shipments received a significant boost from increasing shipment volumes to Europe, China and the rest of Asia.

In Jan 2015, Trina Solar completed the sale of its UK-based 13.2-MW solar power project to Foresight Group LLP. The company also sold a 10.6-MW solar power project in the UK to the same client. In addition, in the UK, Trina Solar will likely be allowed to connect a 49.9-MW utility-scale solar power project to the grid in first-quarter 2015.

Several data providers project renewable demand in the UK to grow in 2015. China-based Trina Solar is strengthening its operations in the country by supplying solar products, besides pursuing an inorganic growth strategy. In Aug 2014, the company had acquired a 49.9-MW project in the UK.

Apart from Trina Solar, many of its peers like JinkoSolar Holding Co., Ltd. JKS and ReneSola Ltd. SOL are trying to tap the growing UK solar market.

Trina Solar’s efforts on expanding its operations in the UK, besides strengthening the presence in China, will enable it to expand its revenue streams.

Trina Solar currently carries a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold).
