Arsenal told: Zinchenko and Jesus not enough

Sunday 17 July 2022 21:14 , Marc Mayo

Former striker Gabby Agbonlahor feels Arsenal still have work to do in the transfer market to avoid being “cut adrift” in the race for a top-four finish.

He told talkSPORT: “Maybe they need another right-sided winger as back up to Bukayo Saka because Nicolas Pepe has not done it.

“These teams know that they need to keep improving their squad because it’s going to get harder and harder to challenge for the top four.

“Arsenal don’t want to be cut adrift. They want to bring in top, top players because Spurs are doing the same.

“Spurs have had a great window so it’s going to be even harder this season to get that top four and Man United fans, once again, will say that I don’t think they’ve got much chance to get top four again this season.”

Zinchenko could be ‘signing of the summer'

Sunday 17 July 2022 12:09 , Alex Young

Darren Ambrose is very impressed by Arsenal's move for Oleksandr Zinchenko.

He said: “I think this could be one of the signings of the summer and I don’t like to say that because I’m a Spurs supporter. “£30million for Zinchenko, [Kieran] Tierney has his issues with injury so he’s more than adequate cover, but I think he’ll be going into midfield and I think it improves Arsenal’s midfield.

“When you watch him for Ukraine he plays in midfield, he gives you that bite, he’s clearly a leader as well, he’s clearly a good character.

“Mikel Arteta knows him from Manchester City so they’ve got a good relationship, Gabriel Jesus is already there.

“City and Arsenal have now got that relationship. City are not bothered about Arsenal at the moment so they’re sending them players for half decent prices as well.

“£30million in today’s climate is a good price for a player I feel will go straight into Arsenal’s first team.”

Conte: Lucas a good wing-back option

Saturday 16 July 2022 17:00 , Matt Verri

Antonio Conte believes Lucas Moura could prove a useful option at wing-back for Tottenham this season.

With Djed Spence’s move to the club effectively done, it’s a position that Tottenham have already have strength in depth in, though Conte has hinted Lucas may get more opportunities in the future.

There has been talk that Lucas may leave the club this summer, but that certainly looks unlikely now.

“I spoke with Lucas and I think that this will be a good option for me,” Conte said.

“In the past I converted Perisic in that position. [Victor] Moses was the same. [Antonio] Candreva was the same. Before a winger and then to become a wing-back. For sure he has great quality Lucas and I think this could be a good option.”

Robert Lewandowski: Barcelona set to sign Bayern Munich star

Saturday 16 July 2022 08:49 , Jonathan Gorrie

Barcelona are set to sign Poland striker Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich after the clubs reached an agreement in principle for his transfer, a person with knowledge of the negotiations tells The Associated Press.

Lewandowski scored 312 goals in 384 Bundesliga games for Bayern and previous club Borussia Dortmund. He hit 35 goals in 34 appearances last season to become the Bundesliga’s leading scorer for the fifth season in a row, and the seventh time overall.
