Gareth Bale scored twice to inspire Tottenham to a resounding 4-0 win over Burnley, easing the pressure on manager Jose Mourinho.
It took Bale just 67 seconds to open the scoring before he turned provider for Harry Kane with a brilliant raking pass.
Lucas Moura wrapped up the match before the interval with a rasping strike from inside the box and Bale added a gloss with a superb, trademark finish in the second half.

A little loose in possession after returning to the side following a five-game absence through injury. Still, he added attacking thrust and a good balance to the side.

His best performance of the season? Had the beating of Burnley’s forwards in the air in a commanding and assured display. Best moment was a slide to put off Jay Rodriguez as he prepared to pull the trigger.
Toby Alderweireld 8
No surprise that Spurs looked more assured with the experienced Belgian back in the side. His raking balls started attacks and he was sound defensively.
Sergio Reguilon 8
Another Premier League assist with a fine cross for Lucas and also involved in Bale’s second goal. Offers so much going forward.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg 8
Provided the midfield platform for the superb attacking display. Kept the ball moving and mopped up well.
Tanguy Ndombele 8
He was Spurs’ creative hub, starting a number of counter-attacks, including the move leading to Bale’s second goal with a superb flick. Neat and tidy with the ball.
Gareth Bale 10 - Star man
He’s back. Scored twice – the second a stunner – and involved in the other two goals. Rolled back the years by skinning Charlie Taylor in the first half. Raking passes, flicks – his display had a bit of everything.
Lucas Moura 8
Justified his inclusion by making it back to back goals in the League with a rasping finish, having early forced Nick Pope into a smart save. Impressive.
Heung-min Son 8
Looked rejuvenated after finally getting a rest mid-week. Set up both Bale’s goals and unlucky not to score himself, forcing Pope into a fine save.
Harry Kane 9
In the unusual position of being outshone by another forward who isn’t Son but still played a huge part. Made his goal look easy (deflection aside) and nearly should again in the second half, Pope saving well.

More minutes in his legs but ultimately Mourinho’s decision to start Lucas ahead of him at No10 was the right call.
Erik Lamela (Bale 70’) 6
Gave Bale a breather in the final 20 minutes and made a nuisance of himself to Burnley’s back four, as usual. Took a poor touch from Son’s pass when clean through to lose the chance.
Matt Doherty (Aurier 81’) 6
Beaten in the air by Rodriguez for a header which hit the bar, although the whistle had gone seconds before.
