Microsoft Corporation shares closed down 1.81% yesterday despite several positive developments. It was yesterday after-hours that Blackberry had a big announcement saying that it would be partnering with Microsoft to provide a secure environment for Microsoft Office apps including Excel, PowerPoint or Word. Business users will be able to access the apps on Apple and Android devices with the help of the product. The company also announced in a blog post that it is adding a bunch of accessibility features to Windows 10. It was last week that the Verge reported that Microsoft is launching an entirely new gaming cloud division which was dubbed as the "Netflix for video games." The division would allow users access to games from a variety of developers on a subscription basis. The company also revealed DirectX 12 Ray Tracing (DXR). The technique allows computer-generated imagery in movies to look more lifelike than the graphics in games.

NVIDIA Corporation shares closed down 3.78% on about 17.8 million shares traded on Monday. It was yesterday that the company announced NVIDIA RTX™, a ray-tracing technology that brings real-time, cinematic-quality rendering to content creators and game developers. Tony Tamasi, senior vice president of content and technology at NVIDIA, remarked, "Real-time ray tracing has been a dream of the graphics industry and game developers for decades, and NVIDIA RTX is bringing it to life. GPUs are only now becoming powerful enough to deliver real-time ray tracing for gaming applications, and will usher in a new era of next-generation visuals." Microsoft also announced DirectX 12 Ray Tracing (DXR). Max McMullen, development manager of Windows Graphics and AI at Microsoft stated, "DirectX Raytracing is the latest example of Microsoft's commitment toward enabling developers to create incredible experiences using cutting-edge graphics innovations. Our close partnership with NVIDIA on DirectX Raytracing and NVIDIA's RTX technology brings real-time ray tracing closer than ever for millions of gamers on Windows." Shares may have been in the red after analyst Mitch Steves of RBC Capital said that the economies for cryptocurrencies has broken down. The analyst wrote that an algorithm called "proof-of-stake" will go live by the end of 2018 and it would mean "all chips (even custom-made chips for GPU mining) would not generate any value/profit."
