Thinking Globally, Acting Locally. Scotiabank and JOIN Celebrate the 12th Annual Fall Employer Conference in Toronto

The Honourable Dr. Helena Jaczek, Minister of Community and Social Services and Honourable Mike Lake, MP, Edmonton-Wetaskiwin to Address Participants at This Year's Conference

TORONTO, ON--(Marketwired - November 30, 2015) - Scotiabank is partnering with JOIN to celebrate their Annual Fall Conference, focused on "Thinking Globally, Acting Locally - Learning through our differences - Global best practices."

"Our government recognizes and values the important contributions made by individuals with disabilities to our communities, and to our workforce," said Honourable Helena Jaczek, Minister of Community and Social Services. "I'm pleased to see that this year's JOIN conference will continue its tradition of showcasing new approaches and opportunities to match people with disabilities to meaningful employment."

Over the years, Ontario JOIN has offered conference delegates relevant information and resources related to accessibility and inclusion for people with disabilities in Canadian communities, workplaces and for customers globally. This year is no exception with international experts and award winners sharing their best practices with the attendees.

"JOIN recognizes that we can no longer work in isolation on this very important issue. Together we need to learn from each other and tap into new talent pools that have been and continue to be overlooked," said Deepak Soni, Chair, Ontario JOIN Board of Directors. "The unemployment rate for persons with disabilities is five times higher than any other demographic in our country."
