Target unveils early Black Friday deals and will hold a series of 'Holiday Best' sales starting Halloween

·2 min read

Target is rolling out early Black Friday deals with a series of weeklong sales starting Halloween.

The sales will start Oct. 31 and continue throughout the holiday season, the retailer said Thursday. The approach is similar to how Target spread out the season last year amid the coronavirus pandemic, a change from the traditional short holiday shopping extravaganza.

But new this year, Target will advertise some deals as "Holiday Best," to signal its the retailer's "best planned price of the season."

“We know many of our guests are looking to shop early this season, and that value is incredibly important to them, especially during this time of year,” Christina Hennington, Target's executive vice president and chief growth officer, said in a news release.

Other retailers including Walmart, Macy's, Lowe's and Best Buy have shared how they will handle sales at a time when they are trying to spread out demand and reduce crowds. Kohl's also shared some of its holiday plans Thursday.

With the ongoing supply chain bottlenecks and shortages caused by the pandemic, experts recommend that consumers start shopping for holiday gifts now ahead of Thanksgiving and Black Friday.

Target's Holiday Best deals begin Halloween

Every Sunday, Target says it will unveil new Holiday Best deals, which will be available in stores and online, many offered with same-day services like order pickup or Drive Up curbside pickup.

"If a Holiday Best deal price does happen to go lower later in the season, Target’s enhanced Holiday Price Match Guarantee allows guests to price match items at Target through Dec. 24," the company said in a statement. The new holiday price match policy began earlier in October.

Target said there will be hundreds of offers of "top gifts across electronics, toys, kitchen appliances, floorcare, apparel, beauty and more." It notes some deals won't last a week and will be "surprise one-day Holiday Best deals."

The first early sale will be Oct. 31 through Nov. 6 but some of the bigger deals like an Element 65-inch, 4K UHD Frameless Roku Smart TV for $299.99 (regularly $649.99) will be available Nov. 4-6, Target said.
