Taco Bell just released one of the most ridiculous fast-food menu items ever
Taco Bell is making taco shells out of fried chicken.
The new naked crispy chicken taco features a breaded chicken shell filled with lettuce, tomato, shredded cheese, and an avocado ranch sauce, Foodbeast reports.
At least one location in California is selling the taco for $2.49. We reached out to Taco Bell for more information on the new item, which looks pretty unappetizing in photos we've seen.

I, for one, am very much in favor of having Taco Bell taco shells made out of fried chicken http://t.co/gsn6KlRHrm pic.twitter.com/aXI0c6m4Ap

The new creation looks a lot like KFC's double down dog, which featured a hot dog wrapped in a cheese-stuffed chicken breast.
Fast-food chains often release new items at a limited number of stores to test their success before rolling them out nationwide.
But bizarre items like the naked crispy chicken taco and the double down dog seem like more of a marketing ploy than a genuine product test.
These items are sure to get a lot of attention on social media, which is what fast-food chains are fighting for in an increasingly competitive environment that has grown even more crowded with the expansion of fast-casual chains such as Chipotle and Panera.
