Swedish House Mafia to perform at Coachella in 2022

Coachella's official Twitter account is abuzz following a post that Swedish house music supergroup Swedish House Mafia will perform at the festival in April.

The post included a photo of the group standing in the Empire Polo Fields with a red backdrop and was captioned with three black dots, which is the group's logo. The group also posted on its socials a video clip that ends with a jacket embroidered with "Swedish House Mafia Live Coachella 2022."

Swedish House Mafia consists of DJs Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso. The group was founded in 2008 and performed a farewell tour in 2012. Angello later told Rolling Stone, "we just decided that we reached a point where we didn't know what the next move would be."

After reuniting in 2019, Swedish House Mafia released the single "It Gets Better" in July. The Weeknd also released a snippet of his new song "Moth to a Flame" on Tuesday, which is a collaboration with the trio.

Coachella is scheduled for April 15-17 and 22-24. The world-renowned music, arts and culture festival was canceled in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic. Additional performers will be announced at a later date. Passes are no longer available, but fans can add their name to a waitlist for tickets.

Last week, organizer Goldenvoice said it has updated its health and safety policy so festivalgoers have two options for entry: present proof of a negative COVID-19 test or proof of vaccination. The move is a loosening of its previous mandate, which required all attendees to show proof of vaccination only.
