'Stranger Things' 4 Volume 2 Caused Netflix to Crash

Netflix crashed for a brief period early on Friday following the hotly-anticipated debut of the second volume of Stranger Things season four.

According to Downdetector, which monitors outages for a variety of platforms, user reports of service issues spiked at approximately 3 a.m. ET, when the latest installment of Stranger Things was released on the platform. Reports peaked at almost 13,000 within the hour, though the issue seemed to have been largely taken care of in roughly 20 minutes.

In its first four weeks of release, Stranger Things season four has already secured the all-time No. 1 spot among English-language series' on the streaming giant, based on total hours streamed. Volume two only contains two episodes, though they have a combined run time of almost four hours.

Stranger Things season four includes episodes directed by the Duffer Brothers, Shawn Levy and Nimród Antal, with writing from the Duffer Brothers, Caitlin Schneiderhan, Paul Dichter, Kate Trefry and Curtis Gwinn. The series stars Millie Bobby Brown, Sadie Sink, Finn Wolfhard, Caleb McLaughlin, Gaten Matarazzo, Noah Schnapp, Charlie Heaton, Priah Ferguson, Brett Gelman, Cara Buono, Matthew Modine, Robert Englund and more.
