Starry’s high-speed Internet takes on ISPs

Watch out Comcast, a new startup is aiming to disrupt the major broadband providers. We’ll talk to the CEO of Starry Internet, Chet Kanojia, about the biggest challenges to taking on the ISPs.

Winners and Losers

Stocks in the red today include online poker company Amaya after British rival William Hill said it won’t pursue merger discussions; Dow component IBM after reporting its 18th straight quarter of revenue decline; and SPX Flow, with shares of the infrastructure equipment supplier falling after lowering forward guidance, citing declines in orders and delayed shipments in its Power and Energy segment.

On the flip side, stocks on the move higher today include Del Taco Restaurants after announcing a beat on third-quarter revenues and strong same-store sales growth; health insurer UnitedHealth Group after posting beats on both its top and bottom lines and raising its full-year outlook, partly due to falling claims costs; and Orbital ATK, with shares of the aerospace company soaring after its unmanned rocket successfully blasted off last night for a cargo trip to the International Space Station. That comes almost two years after the company’s rocket exploded during liftoff.

Look ahead

Here’s what will be making headlines tomorrow:

  • Fed watch continues, with potentially market moving speeches from New York Fed President William Dudley, San Francisco Fed President John Williams, and Dallas Fed President Robert Kaplan.

  • Earnings season rolls on with big reports from eBay, Morgan Stanley and Halliburton.

  • Finally, it’s the last televised debate of the 2016 presidential election. Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump will take the stage at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. The topics of the final debate will include immigration, the economy, the Supreme Court, foreign hot spots and fitness to be president.
