Reported net income of $8,724 million in 2018, compared with net income of $8,243 million in 2017. Diluted earnings per share (EPS) were $6.82, a 5% increase from last year. Return on equity was 14.5%, compared to 14.6% last year. Adjusting for the Acquisition-related costs of $420 million after tax ($591 million pre-tax), net income increased 11% to $9,144 million and EPS rose to $7.11, a 9% increase compared to last year.
