Steve Martin has revealed he has received the coronavirus vaccination – and seemed to mock those opposing the vaccine in the process.

The comedy star joked to his followers that the “bad news” about being vaccinated was due to the fact he only managed to get it because he is 75.

But, he was happy to have done so and thanked “science” after getting the jab at Javits Centre in New York, where he waited for his turn in line.

“Good news/bad news,” he wrote. “Good news: I just got vaccinated! Bad news: I got it because I’m 75.”

He added: “Thank you all, and thank you science."

Apparently mocking those who believe the vaccine to be harmful, he quipped: “Right now, I’m having no fide resects.”

In December, it was reported that counterterror protections were being installed around vaccination centres to safeguard them from potential attacks from anti-vaccination conspiracy theorists in Britain.

Conspiracy theories have linked the vaccine to surveillance, the “new world order” and Microsoft founder Bill Gates.

In the UK, the NHS has revealed it is giving 140 jabs a minute and has already vaccinated over 2 million people.
