South Africa's rand firmer, stocks set to open lower

JOHANNESBURG (Reuters) - South Africa's rand firmed in early trade on Monday as the dollar eased ahead of the first debate between U.S. presidential candidates, while stocks were set to open lower. * At 0645 GMT, the rand traded at 13.6600 per dollar, 0.44percent firmer from its New York close on Friday. * Yield for the benchmark instrument due in 2026 was flat at8.565 percent. * Blue chip futures index down 0.72 percent, indicating JSEsecurities exchange opening lower at 0700 GMT.
