Save Money With These DIY Cleaning Wipes
Life gets messy once in a while. Between all those deliciously messy dinners and daily life, sometimes your countertops can be left with a sticky, goopy mess. Since the advent of home cleaning wipes, quick wipe-downs have become a cinch — but it can really add up.
Don’t let a bout of the butterfingers threaten to blow your budget. Learn to make easy DIY home cleaning products that will change your cleaning game.
Supplies Needed:
12 oz water
1/4 oz rubbing alcohol
3 or 4 squirts of dish soap
1 leftover container
1 paper towel roll
1 knife
Instructions:
1. Take your container and put the roll of paper towels inside. If it’s too tall for the container to be able to close with the lid, cut the roll to size with the knife.
2. In a bowl, mix the water, the rubbing alcohol and the dish soap. Be sure to stir the mixture so all the ingredients are evenly distributed through the solution.
3. Take your soapy solution and pour it over your paper towel roll, letting the excess soak into the bottom of the container.
4. Carefully peel the cardboard roll out from the middle of the paper towels. If you pull up gently, the roll should start an easy starting point to pull your wipes from.
5. Get cleaning.
Make It Your Own
Once you have your base creation, you can customize your solution to create cleaning products exactly the way you like them.
If you add a few drops of essential oils to your mixture, you can create a fresh scent that will linger in your kitchen long after the mess is gone. If you splash a dash of white vinegar, your wet wipes will have an extra boost to remove grease — so keep them handy next time you grill.
Price Comparison
Rolls of cleaning wipes can cost upwards of $7 in the grocery store — and even more if you have to pick them up at a convenience store or pharmacy.
This recipe averages out to about $4 for your DIY wipes, not factoring in the items you might already have lying around the house.
