Yahoo Finance Sarah Ferguson Speaks Out About Kate Middleton's Cancer News amid Her Own Diagnosis

The Duchess of York, 64, who revealed in January that she was diagnosed with skin cancer after battling breast cancer last year, shared a post on social media expressing her support for the Princess of Wales, 42.
"All my thoughts and prayers are with the Princess of Wales as she starts her treatment," she said in an Instagram post on Monday, three days after Kate revealed her news publicly with a video message. "I know she will be surrounded by the love of her family and everyone is praying for the best outcome."
Fergie, as the Duchess of York is popularly known, continued, "As someone who has faced their own battles with cancer in recent months, I am full of admiration for the way she has spoken publicly about her diagnosis and know it will do a tremendous amount of good to raise awareness. I hope she will now be given the time, space and privacy to heal.”

Fergie, who was married to Queen Elizabeth's son Prince Andrew from 1986 before divorcing in 1996 but has remained a common fixture at royal family events, recently learned that her skin cancer has not spread.
"This is the best news she could have on it at this stage,” a friend told PEOPLE earlier this month, adding she will continue to attend checkups every 12 weeks.
"She is very relieved," the source added.

Kate Middleton; King Charles; Sarah FergusonIn addition to Princess Kate and the Duchess of York's health news, King Charles is undergoing cancer treatment. The monarch, 75, revealed the news publicly on Feb. 5.
"During The King's recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted. Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer," the palace said in a statement. "His Majesty has today commenced a schedule of regular treatments, during which time he has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties. Throughout this period, His Majesty will continue to undertake state business and official paperwork as usual."

On Friday, Princess Kate shared a personal video message revealing that post-operative tests following her abdominal surgery in January found "cancer had been present."
"My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy, and I am now in the early stages of that treatment," the royal said.
"We hope that you will understand that, as a family, we now need some time, space and privacy while I complete my treatment. My work has always brought me a deep sense of joy, and I look forward to being back when I am able — but for now, I must focus on making a full recovery," Kate also said in the emotional message. "At this time, I am also thinking of all those whose lives have been affected by cancer. For everyone facing this disease, in whatever form, please do not lose faith or hope. You are not alone."
