Sailor Brinkley Cook, 22, shares selfie about mental health: 'This is me, feeling down'

Sailor Brinkley Cook got candid about mental health in her latest Instagram post.

On Monday, the 22-year-old model and daughter of Christie Brinkley shared a photo of herself sitting in a car wearing a brown teddy coat.

“This is me, feeling down. But the sun shone right into my window and some birds flew right next to my car, at the same moment. They were my reminders today that it’s all alright. And to anyone who’s going through it right now. Heres your reminder. You are an important part of this universe and i love you,” she captioned the post.

Fans took to the comments to express their appreciation for Brinkley Cook’s transparency and they also sent her their own words of encouragement.

“Thank you for this authentic post and for the love. I’m flowing love to you too,” one fan wrote. “We all have our moments. Sending you peace, happiness and lots of love,” another person said. “Needed this! Nothing like sunlight on your face and being aware of signs from nature. Keep sharing and spreading your light! People do appreciate it,” someone added.

This is not the first time Brinkley Cook has been transparent with her fans. She has also spoken about her issues with body image. In May, she shared a series of photos with a lengthy but powerful caption that included a quote from Kendrick Lamar’s song hit “Humble.”

“I’ve been so down on myself recently. Crying about my cellulite, letting the fat on my body ruin my day, getting mad that i’m not as skinny as i once was. The body dysmorphia and left over eating disorder tendencies have been coming in strong,” she wrote.

She added that as her body changes, she found herself comparing her body to the ones she saw on Instagram.

“Hormones, emotions, growing pains,” Brinkley Cook added. I go on instagram and scroll through photos of girls that look ‘perfect’.. shiny skin with not a bump to be seen, tiny little waist and thighs that look like chopsticks. And i compare myself, as if how someone on an app on my phone looks should directly correlate to how I feel about my body?...If you’re out there hating on yourself, stop!! Appreciate yourself. You’re body is so magical. That’s all. Have a nice day.”
