Fans of The Morning Show, take a deep breath and find your comfiest spot on the sofa: the hit show is officially coming back for a third season – and the trailer has just been released (watch it above).

The trailer teases Alex, played by Jennifer Aniston, making an "unprecedented request" as she argues, "I'm all over this network" – while UBA dramatically suffers a cyber attack. Money, power and secrets collide as the network fights to stay afloat, with Alex pressing for a "seat at the table" and a position of real influence at UBA. If this preview is anything to go by, season three looks set to be just as good as the first two runs of the hit show.

Apple TV+ announced the renewal of its flagship drama two months after season two ended on a major cliff-hanger (we won’t tell you what, in case you’ve yet to catch up).

The workplace drama stars Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon as news anchors navigating workplace tensions and the aftermath of sexual misconduct allegations against a former colleague, played by Steve Carell. The second season of the series also tackled the impact of the pandemic, ending in March 2020 just before the first lockdowns in New York City.

Apple TV+ has confirmed that Charlotte Stoudt will serve as show-runner for the new episodes. Stoudt, who has previously written for cult drama Homeland, is taking over from Kerry Ehrin, who developed the show and will serve as a consultant on season three.

"It has been thrilling to watch The Morning Show go from strength to strength over the past two seasons, exploring topical storylines that have resonated with audiences around the world while also being incredibly addictive and entertaining," said Matt Cherniss, head of programming for Apple TV+.

"We're excited to see where Charlotte takes these extraordinary characters in season three and to watch the magic that Jennifer, Reese and our awe-inspiring cast continue to bring to the captivating world of morning television," he added.

Excited? Us too. Here’s everything we know about The Morning Show's third season so far…

When is season three of The Morning Show out?

According to Apple, the new season (which will have 10 episodes) will premiere globally on 13 September 13 2023 with the first two episodes. Further episodes will then be released weekly. September is set to be a good month for screen-time: Zendaya's new film, Challengers, is also released then.

Who will be starring in it?

Returning with Aniston and Witherspoon in the standout ensemble will be Billy Crudup, Mark Duplass, Nestor Carbonell, Karen Pittman, Greta Lee and Julianna Margulies, alongside new castmembers Jon Hamm (of Mad Men fame) and Nicole Beharie.

What will the third season of The Morning Show be about?

The official press release details that the upcoming season will show "the future of the network being thrown into question" while "loyalties are pushed to the brink when a tech titan takes an interest in UBA", resulting in unexpected alliances and everyone being forced to confront their core values "in and out of the newsroom".

Ehrin also said in a November Hollywood Reporter interview that this season probably won't start where the finale left off, in the early days of the pandemic. Instead, she said the possibilities for the new season are endless. "You could [jump into the future]. You could go backwards. It's such an interesting little universe. You really can put it anywhere in time, and I think the challenge of the show is coming up with that big subject," Ehrin said.
