Read This Before Buying PlayAGS, Inc. (NYSE:AGS) Shares

We often see insiders buying up shares in companies that perform well over the long term. On the other hand, we'd be remiss not to mention that insider sales have been known to precede tough periods for a business. So we'll take a look at whether insiders have been buying or selling shares in PlayAGS, Inc. (NYSE:AGS).

What Is Insider Buying?

It's quite normal to see company insiders, such as board members, trading in company stock, from time to time. However, rules govern insider transactions, and certain disclosures are required.

We don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions. But logic dictates you should pay some attention to whether insiders are buying or selling shares. For example, a Harvard University study found that 'insider purchases earn abnormal returns of more than 6% per year.'

PlayAGS Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

Over the last year, we can see that the biggest insider sale was by the CEO, President & Director, David Lopez, for US$129k worth of shares, at about US$20.98 per share. We generally don't like to see insider selling, but the lower the sale price, the more it concerns us. The silver lining is that this sell-down took place above the latest price (US$17.30). So it is hard to draw any strong conclusion from it.

Over the last year, we note insiders sold 7149 shares worth US$148k. PlayAGS insiders didn't buy any shares over the last year.
