This rainbow castle is the stuff dreams are made of

I, like a lot of little kids, used to daydream about one day living in a rainbow castle. And after a search the spans the length of two decades, I’ve finally found it: the dream castle that I want to live in.

The castle is called Sammezzano and you can find it — and me from here on out — just outside the town of Leccio in Tuscany.

According to Uproxx, Sammezzano was built in 1605 by Spanish nobility, and it was updated in the mid-19th century by Ferdinand Panciatichi Ximenes d’Aragona.

d’Aragona was the one who implemented the iconic Moorish Revival architectural aesthetic, AKA the rainbow castle color scheme almost too cool to be real. After a brief stint as a luxury hotel, Sammezzano closed for business in the 1990s… but it’s not too late to visit.

Or to take the virtual tour with Great Big Story.

With 365 rooms all dressed to the nines, Sammezzano is open to the public for tours and private parties. And, okay, technically I don’t think I’ll be allowed to live in the rainbow castle — but with that many rooms, I think I’ll be able to find a pretty good spot to hole up and hide. Until then, I’ll just keep dreaming.
