Radio host accused of DUI had blood alcohol level 4 times over legal limit, California cops say

A popular Sacramento radio personality was arrested Friday on suspicion of driving under the influence after he was measured with a blood alcohol level more than four times the legal limit, the Auburn Police Department said Monday.

Rob Williams, 52, the main host of “The Rob, Anybody & Dawn Show,” was arrested a little before 8 p.m. in the 100 block of Grass Valley Highway, said Lt. Bryan Morrison, a spokesman for the Auburn Police Department. An officer observed Williams swerving in and out of lanes, which led authorities to pull him over and conduct a breathalyzer test, Morrison said.

The test yielded a result showing a 0.35% blood alcohol level, Morrison said. California’s legal limit is 0.08%.

“There is no excuse or justification for that,” Williams said of the DUI in a statement posted on social media. “It’s beyond an ‘error of judgment,’ it’s despicable and could have turned out much worse that it did.”

Williams, speaking on his show Monday, said he couldn’t go into the details of his arrest, which was for alleged misdemeanor DUI.

Williams said during the show that his attorney advised him to refrain from speaking about the case’s facts. But he also said he looks forward to the day he can talk about the incident and clear any misinformation surrounding it.

“I will share everything as soon as I can,” Williams said.

Williams also thanked his wife, team and supporters who have rallied around him after the arrest during the show.

“The Rob, Anybody & Dawn Show” went off the air in Sacramento this June after the program exited Audacy, Inc.-owned KRXQ-FM (98.5). Last month, the show announced on social media that it will return to Sacramento airwaves on K284CM-FM (104.7) starting Nov. 13 under a partnership with Lotus Communications.

The show will be broadcast 24/7 on 104.7, with live programs airing 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. Monday through Friday, and reruns and “best-of” segments filling the remaining time slots.

The show has existed under various names for more than 20 years in the Sacramento area and other West Coast cities. After leaving KRXQ in June, it continued to broadcast from KDOT-FM in Reno.
