/R E P E A T -- Media Advisory - Registered Nurses, Health-Care Professionals to Hold March, Rally in Thunder Bay/

THUNDER BAY, ON, June 21, 2023 /CNW/ - More than 150 registered nurses (RNs) and health-care professionals – members of the Ontario Nurses' Association (ONA) – will hold a march, information picket and rally tomorrow in Thunder Bay, calling on the Ford government to drop their dangerous privatization scheme and invest in better public healthcare for all Ontario citizens.

The nurses and health-care professionals – in Thunder Bay to attend ONA's Provincial Coordinators Meeting – will march from the Delta Marriot Hotel at 2240 Sleeping Giant Parkway to St. Joseph's Care Group on Algoma Street North. There, they will hold an information picket about the impact that Doug Ford's health-care privatization legislation, Bill 60, will have on access to healthcare for Ontarians. The picket will be followed by remarks from a number of provincial and local ONA leaders, beginning at 10:45 am.

Thunder Bay is struggling with the same staffing shortages experienced by health-care facilities across the province. The staffing shortages, regressive Ford government policies and the pandemic have all taken a severe toll on those who provide care and their patients, residents and clients. Only by better funding the public health-care system and improving working conditions for those who provide care, can the shortages be fixed.

Ontario Nurses' Association local and provincial leaders, front-line RNs and health-care professionals

ONA is the union representing more than 68,000 registered nurses and health-care professionals, as well as 18,000 nursing student affiliates, providing care in hospitals, long-term care facilities, public health, the community, clinics and industry.
