Quebec City named top tourist spot

Quebec City named top tourist spot

Quebec City has been named the province's top tourist destination for Quebecers this summer according to a survey by Léger-CAA-Québec.

The capital is getting a tourism boost thanks to a weak Canadian dollar.

"With the current exchange rate, Americans are coming more and more," said André Roy, the director of Tourism Quebec.

"Quebecers are also increasingly staying in the province rather than go to the U.S. for the same reason."

Many industries are benefiting from the struggling dollar, especially hotels.

Tourism Quebec said hotels in Quebec City had an occupancy rate of 90 per cent during the 2014 and 2015 construction holiday.
