Qualcomm slips, Take-Two Interactive delivers, Starbucks has a new partnership

It was a rough quarter for Qualcomm. The company posted a loss as an ongoing licensing fight with Apple took its toll on profits. Just this week. a federal judge ordered Qualcomm to license its patents to rival chip suppliers. The CEO says they’re focused on settling that case.

It was a different story at Take-Two Interactive. The gaming company reported strong results from last quarter and raised its outlook thanks in part to strong performance from its latest offering. Red Dead Redemption Two generated nearly $750M in its first few days on the market. Also, Take-Two says the game’s already sold some 17 million copies world wide.

There’s a new way to get your Starbucks coffee in Japan. Starbucks is partnering with UberEats for delivery in Tokyo. The partnership starts tomorrow. Starbucks recently struck a similar deal with Alibaba to deliver coffee in China. It’s been putting a huge focus on growth in the Asia-Pacific region.

Ford is getting into the e-scooter game. It’s buying Spin, a San Francisco-based e-scooter rental company. It’s reportedly costing them $200M. That’s far less than two competitors, Lime and Bird, are said to be worth. A ford executive tells Reuters the deal quote “fills a gap” in the company’s portfolio.

Nexflix is re-creating a classic for the big screen. ‘Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle’ will premiere in theaters on November 29th. It’ll start streaming on December 7th. Andy Serkis, Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett and Benedict Cumberbatch star in the movie based on Rudyard Kipling’s classic story.
